Periodic Table Of Elements Project
To celebrate the International Year of Chemical science (IYC), Chem 13 News magazine together with the University of Waterloo'southward Department of Chemistry and the Faculty of Scientific discipline encouraged chemistry educators and enthusiasts worldwide to prefer an chemical element and artistically translate that element. The project created a periodic table as a mosaic of scientific discipline and art. Click the prototype above to access the interactive PDF (accessible) version of the poster.
Thank y'all to all the teachers and students who participated in the collaborative Periodic Tabular array Project. Students from all Canadian provinces and territories, 20 U.Due south. states and 14 countries researched, created and designed the elemental tiles.
Mobile apps
See the amazing artwork for each elemental tile designed past chemical science students from effectually the globe. The apps include the creative process behind each tile along with basic diminutive backdrop of the chemical element. The apps work to truly highlight the artistic expression of the Periodic Tabular array Projection.
Download the gratuitous applications for Apple, Blackberry or Android devices!
Posters
We created a classroom-sized periodic table affiche (36" past 27"), which we mailed out free to all participants, all high schools in Canada andChem 13 News magazine readers. Our cheers goes to the Academy of Waterloo for making this mass mailout possible.
2013 flerovium (Fl) and livermorium (Lv) contest
The Periodic Tabular array is a living model so information technology came as no surprise more elements were being added. So nosotros ran an boosted contest for the two latest elements, flerovium (Fl) and livermorium (Lv); read more about the winning tiles for the newly named elements flerovium (Fl) and livermorium (Lv).
2017 New elements contest: nihonium (Nh), moscovium (Mc), tennessine (Ts) and oganesson (Og)
Chem 13 Newsmagazine ran a contest to blueprint tiles for the four newly named elements, nihonium (Nh), moscovium (Mc), tennessine (Ts) and oganesson (Og). Our New Elements Contest received over 200 submissions from over twoscore schools. See the new elements contest page to meet the winners.
Wall Mural
In April 2012, a 25-foot by 18-human foot wall mural of the last Periodic Table Project was installed at the Globe Sciences Museum at the University of Waterloo.
We wish to thank 3M Canada for providing the materials and the installation of the wall mural.
Interactive online and PDF versions of the Periodic Table Project
In addition to the mobile app, nosotros as well offer an interactive PDF (accessible) and this online version of the Periodic Table Project with background information on who created each tile, its creative process and scientific data relevant to the high school curriculum.
